USA TRIATHLON INFO
This is a USA Triathlon Sanctioned Event!

The Rocketts Landing Triathlon is a USA Triathlon (USAT) sanctioned event. USAT provides insurance for participants. If you are a member you are covered, if you are not a member you will need to buy one day insurance for $10. This can either be purchased online at the time of registration or at packet pick-up (cash or by check made out to USAT). Each individual or relay member must be a USAT member or purchase the one day insurance. USAT membership is $39/ yr to join; therefore if you do 4 triathlons/yr and enjoy being nationally ranked and the discounts they offer, it's great. If you are a newbie and are just doing the one event, you need to pay the $10 one-day fee. There is no "card" for a 1 day $10 license. There will be a checklist at packet pick-up to confirm if you paid it online or not. You must pick-up your own packet and show photo ID, no exceptions, this includes relay teams. More information about USAT is available at their website. Temporary cards can be printed out from http://triathlon.teamusa.org/content/index/661

Bike/Helmet Inspections

Bike/helmet inspections will be provided by 3Sports and will be OPTIONAL. The safety and status of the bike/helmet is the sole responsibility of the participant. If you are unsure if your equipment meets USAT standards, please go to Three Sports or call them at 804.288.4000. 3Sports will be present on race day as bike support.
For all athletes we would like to make the helmet guidelines clear. As stated by USAT, the rule is:

Section 5.9 Helmets: www.usatriathlon.org

(a) Type of Helmet. All participants shall wear a protective head cover, undamaged and unaltered, which meets or exceeds the safety standards of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Helmets manufactured prior to March 10, 1999 must meet or exceed the safety standards of (i) the American National Standard Institute (ANSI Z-90.4), (ii) The Snell Memorial Foundation (Protective Headgear for Bicycle Users), or (iii) ASTM F-1446 or F-1447, and which is clearly labeled by the manufacturer as satisfying such standards. Removal of helmet cover, if required for that helmet to meet such safety standards, shall constitute an impermissible alteration in violation of this Section 5.9(a). Any violation of this Section 5.9(a) shall result in disqualification.

Chip Timing
Timing is done by Setup Events using the ChampionChip timing system. Chips are provided for the race. A $30 fee will be charged for unreturned chips. Volunteers will be at the finish line to assist in chip removal.
